About The Department

The B.Sc. in Nursing is a 4-year undergraduate degree program designed to prepare students for a career in the healthcare and nursing fields. The program provides both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, enabling graduates to take on roles in hospitals, healthcare organizations, research, education, and public health sectors. This degree is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, skilled in patient care, and interested in contributing to improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities.

As students progress, they delve into specialized fields such as Medical-Surgical Nursing, which focuses on the care of adults in various medical and surgical settings. Child Health Nursing introduces pediatric care, addressing the unique needs of infants and children, while Mental Health Nursing emphasizes psychological well-being and psychiatric nursing. Community Health Nursing extends nursing practices into public health and rural outreach, emphasizing preventive care and education.

Students also gain expertise in Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing, focusing on maternal and women’s health, along with training in Nursing Research & Statistics to build analytical and evidence-based practice skills. In the final phase of the program, Management of Nursing Services and Education equips students with leadership and administrative competencies, preparing them to take on supervisory and educational roles in the healthcare sector.

FACILITIES

Land & Building: The college is housed in a large RCC building with more than 63,000 sq. ft. of built-up area, spread across 5 acres of land owned by the trust, providing a spacious and serene learning environment.

Laboratories: Well-equipped laboratories are available for students including the Fundamental & Medical Surgical Nursing Lab, Anatomy and Physiology Lab, Microbiology Lab, Nutrition Lab, Community Health Nursing Lab, Midwifery & Child Health Nursing Lab, as well as Computer and Audio-Visual Aids Labs. These facilities provide hands-on training and demonstration space for practical learning.

Computer Lab: The computer lab is outfitted with new systems and advanced software to enhance the computer skills of nursing students, ensuring they are well-prepared for digital healthcare environments.

Library: The library is a center for academic learning and research, well-stocked with over 4,500 books that are recommended in the B.Sc. Nursing syllabus. It also subscribes to both Indian and foreign nursing journals. In addition, magazines and newspapers are provided for general reading for both students and staff.

Transport: The college provides sufficient transportation facilities with buses available for both students and faculty from various localities. Transportation is offered on a no-profit, no-loss basis. Buses are also used to transport students for clinical postings, ensuring safety and accessibility.

Hostel: Hostel facilities are available within the institution premises. The hostel includes spacious, well-ventilated rooms that provide a homely atmosphere, supporting students' study and living needs. Hostel stay is mandatory for all students. A separate building within the campus is dedicated exclusively to hostel accommodations.

Sports & Games: A large playground is available on the campus to support various sports and recreational activities, contributing to the overall physical well-being of the students.

Eligibility Criteria

Passed +2 Class or its equivalent preferable with Science Subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with 45% of aggregation marks. (or) Those who have cleared +2 vocational ANM course (revised after 2001) from a School recognized by the State Government/Central Government.

Curriculum

The course curriculum is divided into various subjects and practicals to equip students with essential nursing skills and knowledge. Some core subjects include:

  • Fundamentals of Nursing:   Introduction to the basic principles of nursing care.
  • Microbiology:   SStudy of microorganisms and their role in human health.
  • Nutrition:   Basic nutrition principles and their impact on health.
  • Pharmacology:   Study of medications and their effects on the body.
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing:   Care for patients with medical and surgical conditions.
  • Mental Health Nursing:   Understanding psychiatric disorders and their treatment.
  • Pediatric Nursing:   Care and management of children's health.
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology:   Nursing care for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
  • Community Health Nursing:   Public health issues, disease prevention, and health promotion in communities.
  • Nursing Research:   Techniques in evidence-based practice and research methods.

Clinical Training

Students engage in real-world training in hospitals, clinics, and community centers, applying theoretical knowledge under professional supervision. Training covers:

  • Patient assessment techniques
  • Medication administration
  • Wound care procedures
  • Patient and family support

Examinations & Certifications

Each academic year concludes with written and practical exams. Successful students are awarded the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) degree, certifying their readiness for nursing practice.

Internship

A mandatory internship period is included, during which students are posted in healthcare facilities to gain immersive hands-on experience, strengthen clinical skills, and build confidence before entering the workforce.

Admission Procedure

  • Only female candidates are eligible to apply.
  • Only single Women or Widows encumbrance will be selected.
  • Minimum & Maximum age limit will be 17 and 35 years respectively.
  • Students should be medically fit.

Number of students to be admitted: 20 students for every year.
